Florida Staycations to Try this Holiday Season
Jacksonville locals know just how fortunate we are to live where most people vacation. Sure, it gets humid in the summer and a little bit touristy once in awhile. As we all know, the pros of calling 904 home certainly outweigh the cons. From Historic St. Augustine to wide-open spaces in Ocala, there’s something for everyone in northeast Florida. Here are our favorite ways to skip the big vacation without sacrificing on fun and relaxation.
Escape to Historic St. Augustine for Day and Night Excitement
This little beach town is rich in history, great food and bustling bars, as every Jax local knows. So, why does this quaint destination have a spot on the top of our list? If you’re someone who had to cancel a trip to Europe or simply needs to escape to a brand new setting, St. Augustine is your spot.
European elements shine through everywhere you look. While St. Augustine is situated only 30-to-40 minutes from the mainland, it feels like you escape to a whole different country. Book your stay at a quaint B&B or the fan-favorite Casa Monica, enjoy a waterfront meal at St. Augustine Fish Camp and head to a local bar for some live music.
Rent a Cabin in the Country to Escape the Noise of Your Daily Life
Everyone needs to completely unplug once in awhile. Pick a spot on your map around Palm Coast, Palatka or Starke and search online for cabin rentals. Get a group of friends together, stock up on great food and booze then head out for a weekend of relaxation.
If you’re the hunting or fishing type, be sure to bring the tools necessary to immerse yourself in nature. This is a great way to get out of your daily routine, shut off your tech and spend time with people you love.
Get a Room with Ocean Views for a Luxe Weekend Getaway
Who could say no to a weekend looking out at the water? Choose from One Ocean in Atlantic Beach, a vacation rental or Casa Marina in Jax Beach for a fun weekend you won’t forget. Our best advice with this staycation is to book a spot within walking distance of good food, drinks and entertainment.
While our favorite beach staycation happens between Jax and Atlantic Beaches, you certainly can’t forget about the beautiful spots in Ponte Vedra and Amelia Island. Find a spot that fits your budget and plan from there.
Whichever Trip You Choose, One of the Fish Camps is Certainly Close By!
We love Jacksonville so much, we planted five Fish Camps and two other concepts around the city. Look us up on your map while planning the trip. Find the closest location to you, then pop in for a great cocktail and coastal dining favorites. We can’t wait to help you celebrate the season!
